The Training Visa (Subclass 407) offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to come to Australia temporarily and participate in occupational training or professional development programs. This visa is ideal for those looking to boost their career, sharpen their skills, or meet licensing requirements.
Under the 407 Visa, you can take part in the following types of workplace-based training:
✅Training for Licensing or Registration: If your goal is to obtain a license, registration, or membership to begin an occupation in Australia or your home country, this stream helps fulfill that requirement through workplace-based experience.
✅Skill Enhancement through Structured Training: If you're nominated by a recognized temporary activities sponsor and your occupation is listed on the eligible skilled occupations list, this stream helps you improve your professional skills through structured training in your chosen field.
✅Competency-Based and Professional Development Training:
🔹Overseas Qualification: Designed for international students who need to complete practical training, research, or observation as part of their degree.
🔹Government Support: For individuals endorsed by a government agency (either Australian or from their home country) to receive structured occupational training.
🔹Professional Development: For overseas employers who want to upskill their staff through a customized training program aimed at business growth.
Note: The Skilled Occupation List (SOL) was replaced by the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) on April 19, 2017. A combined skilled occupation list is now in effect and is updated biannually, with the next revision expected on July 1st.
