Prospective Marriage Visa Subclass 300

The Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) is designed for individuals who are engaged and planning to marry an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. This temporary visa allows you to enter and stay in Australia for up to nine months, during which time you are expected to get married and apply for the Partner Visa (Subclass 820 and 801) to continue living together in Australia.

⚠️ Important Note for New Zealand Passport Holders:

Eligibility Criteria
For Visa Applicants

To be eligible for the Subclass 300 visa, you must:

🔹Be 18 years or older
🔹Be outside of Australia both when applying and when the visa is granted
🔹Meet the relationship requirements with your fiancé(e)
🔹Be sponsored by your fiancé(e), who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen
🔹Fulfill the health and character requirements
🔹Have no outstanding debts to the Australian Government, or have made suitable repayment arrangements


For Sponsors

As a sponsor, you must:

🔹Be the fiancé(e) of the visa applicant
🔹Not currently hold or have previously held certain restricted visas

You are also responsible for:

🔹Any debts your partner owes to the Australian Government
🔹Ensuring your partner follows their visa conditions
🔹Supporting your partner’s work and legal obligations in Australia

Including Family Members in the Visa

You may include dependent children or stepchildren in your visa application. Once granted, your family members will enjoy the same rights and conditions as you under the Subclass 300 visa.
